If a tooth is lost for some reason and the area is left untreated, several problems such as misalignment of teeth, widened gap between teeth, and alveolar bones absorption makes wearing dentures difficult. Since chewing becomes more difficult, proper digestion may not occur. You will lose your natural smile and articulating precisely will be difficult as well.
Modern dentistry provides implants as a very good solution to such problem. In olden times only dentures and bridges were used. Dentures have the disadvantage that, you need to grind adjacent teeth, has inconvenience of wearing, removing and cleaning. A denture never feels real and is discomfortable and you are always worried about embarrassment of dislodging it.
Implanting involves inserting an artificial dental root made of titanium into the jawbone. AniImplant feels and looks like a natural tooth. It has the same strong chewing force as that of a natural tooth. Implants can last as long as 10-30 years. If you wear dentures for a long time, your jawbone can deteriorate. In contrast, implant placement keeps bone strong and prevents it from being absorbed by the body.
Before starting surgery, careful and detailed planning is required to determine vital structures and the shape and dimensions of the bone, so Dr. Atraya can properly orient the implants for the best outcome. X-rays are often taken prior to surgery. Bone grafting may be needed in many cases. It is best to consider bone grafting at the time of extraction.
In its most basic form, the placement of an implant requires a preparation into the bone using either hand osteotomes or precision drills with highly regulated speed. A titanium implant is placed. After some amount of time (few months) to allow the bone to grow onto the implant (osseointegration), the gum is again lifted and a dental abutment is screwed down into the implant. The top part of the abutment known as the post will be attached to a temporary crown. Again some more time is given for healing, and after that a permanent crown or several crowns can be placed on the implant. Dr. Atraya has performed implants with great outcomes since 2011.
